STANFORD, Calif. -- Stanford will look to start a new winning streak against California after seeing a seven-game run end Saturday afternoon with a 7-4 loss in 10 innings.

The Cardinal out-hit Cal in game one, but left 12 runners on base, as the Bears came from behind to beat Stanford for the first time since 2012. "They just did a better job of hitting in the clutch than we did.” said Mark Marquess, the Clarke and Elizabeth Nelson Director of Baseball.

Stanford lost for the first time this season when scoring more than three runs, falling to 14-1 when getting to four runs. Danny Diekroeger led the team with three hits Saturday, while Tommy Edman extended his career-best hitting streak to six games.

John Hochstatter, Stanford's only non-freshman starting pitcher this season, gets the nod Sunday. The junior lefty is 2-0 with 1.27 ERA in 21.1 innings in April.
