A powerful high school pitcher, compiling a 22-5 record in his last two prep campaigns ... Posted a 12-2 record with 165 strikeouts in 87.0 innings as a senior after having gone 10-3 with 137 SO's in 77.0 innings as a junior ... Had a no-hitter with 17 strikeouts in one performance ... Summer Baseball - Recorded a 4-2 record and an excellent 1.72 ERA in the regular season for the Cape Cod League champion Brewster Whitecaps in the summer of 2000 ... Struck out 39 batters, allowing only 34 hits and 10 earned runs in 52.1 innings while starting a co-team-high eight games ... Also had an effective outing in his only post-season effort, tossing 8.0 scoreless innings and giving up just five hits with four strikeouts to record the victory ...
