Cole Buck joined Stanford as The Enlight Foundation Assistant Coach for Men's Golf in January 2021 and will enter his third season in 2022-23. Buck came to The Farm following two seasons at Lipscomb.
In 2021-22, Buck helped the Cardinal to a win at the Colonial Collegiate Invitational, three more runner-up finishes and a total of seven Top 5s. Sophomore Michael Thorbjornsen was a second team All-American, while Thorbjornsen (first team), Barclay Brown (second team) and Karl Vilips (second team) were named All-Pac-12. Stanford returned to the NCAA Championships in 2022, qualifying with a second-place finish at the Stockton Regional. Thirteen Cardinal tallied Top-10 finishes in tournaments througout the season with five runner-ups. Sixth-year senior Henry Shimp was named Pac-12 Scholar-Athlete of the Year, Stanford's fourth in program history.
Buck joined Lipscomb after two seasons as the head coach at Wagner, a program in the Northeast Conference (NEC) located in Staten Island, New York. At Wagner, Buck graduated with a master's degree in higher education leadership organization. He received his bachelor's degree in 2017 from Texas Christian University.
Buck played two seasons of golf at TCU. Following his playing career, he served as head men's and women's junior varsity golf coach and varsity assistant coach at Trinity Valley High School in Fort Worth, Texas. He also spent time at TCU as a coaching intern with the strength and conditioning department.
Buck spent his final three years of high school at the prestigious Jim McLean Golf Academy in Arlington, Texas, where he also has experience working in internal operations. Buck has also worked with the AJGA, served as Kids Across America Director of Golf at Payne Stewart Memorial Center, and also served as a Mackenzie Tour caddy in 2018.
Buck and his wife, Anna, were married in 2022.
