Prior to Stanford
- At New Trier High was the top scorer on the junior varsity hockey team in his only season
- Captained the rowing team as a senior and broke school 2,000-meter record

- Second in the 2017 and 2018 SRAA national championships in the 8+
Personal
- Parents are Christopher and Kimberly Chatain
- Father was a collegiate All-America sailor and placed third in the Flying Dutchman class at the 1968 U.S. Olympic Trials
- Christopher Chatain was a two-time Flying Dutchman national champion, and the 1993 Chicago-Mackinac Race
- Has three brothers, John, Ted, and Charles
