• Daughter of Orlanda and Wanda Burks
• Has an older brother Oren
• Began working in a bio-nano technology lab on Stanford's campus during the summer of 2016 that became a company during her junior year. The lab focuses on engineering an innocuous pathway into cells through nano structures. She serves as the head of product design and product assembly, and works with other lab members to 3D print any designs they need to make their jobs easier.
• Took a nanomaterials synthesis class during her junior year that covered a variety of synthesis techniques. She chose to focus on nanotubes which have been used in a variety of sports equipment including softball bats.
• Member of the Leadership Core for SBSE BYTES - an engineering club that facilitates workshops that teach engineering skills and funds engineering projects for minority students on campus
• Co-Event Coordinator of the Stanford Society of Women Engineers (SWE) Engineering Carnival
• Designing and manufacturing a travel guitar through the Society of Black Scientist and Engineers (SBSE) BYTES Program during her sophomore year
• Recognized by the Central Intelligence Agency for her 2013 science fair project and was awarded a tour of CIA facilities at Langley
