Dan Osterman joins the Cardinal staff as a volunteer assistant coach in 2014-15.
A three-time NCAA qualifier at Michigan State, Osterman racked up 92 wins wrestling primarily at 141 and 149 pounds with the Spartans from 2009-13.
As a senior in 2012-13, he went 2-2 at the Big Ten Championships and qualified for his third NCAA Championships, held in Des Moines, Iowa. He was the runner-up at the Reno Tournament of Champions and finished third at the Eastern Michigan Open.
As a junior in 2011-12, Osterman qualified for his second NCAA Championships in St. Louis, Mo., wrestling at 149 pounds. He took second at the MSU Open and third at the Reno Tournament of Champions.
As a sophomore in 2010-11, he placed seventh at the Big Ten Championships and qualified for his first national tournament, held in Philadelphia, Pa. He led the team with 15 dual wins (15-3) and 53 dual meet points. He also won the Eastern Mighican Open for the second straight year.
In 2009-10, Osterman started his career at 8-0 at 133 pounds, moving him into the starting role at 141 pounds for the remaining of the season. He won the Eastern Michigan Open and first in the freshman/sophomore division of the MSU Open.
Osterman is a native of Carson City, Mich.
