FOOTBALL POST-GAME QUOTES
No. 9 USC 42, Stanford 0 (Stanford, CA - Stanford Stadium)
November 4, 2006

STANFORD
HEAD COACH WALT HARRIS
On today's game
"We ran into a very good football team that was coming off a tough game. I thought we fought as hard as we could for as long as we could. We tried to play competitive. I think we played hard with what we have. It's easy to get psyched out by the skill level and talent that they have."

On positive performances
"T.C. Ostrander was a little better, and it was nice to see him hit a deep ball. I thought Anthony Kimble did a good job of getting the ball up the field. And I thought our guys did a good job handling their running game, and that's something we can build on."

On USC
"USC is USC. They came in here focused and they are ranked as high as they are because they have players. They are physical on defense and that often gets overlooked, and we had a real problem with that."

T.C. OSTRANDER
On today's performance and looking ahead
"I think we took some small steps; guys were really concentrating on their assignments. A lot of it right now is trying to be the best team we can be and focus on game management. We just need to try to win every play from here on out. If we do that, we can improve."

USC
HEAD COACH PETE CARROLL
On the victory
"We're real pleased to come out this week and put together real good preparation. We needed to have a game like this where we have an opportunity to get a lot of guys playing time and good execution; we're back on track. All in all, it was a very successful trip, and we were happy to get this win. We had a hard loss last week, and it was good to get this one done. It was a hard loss on (Stanford) again. Fortunately we got this thing back on track, and we can feel good about a good win and to get back home."

On the defense
"We finally got the ball away from our opponent. My guys did not let the ball get away tonight, and that was great."

On the outcome
"This game came out just right; we were pretty explosive on offense with some big plays. Defense was on the whole time and did what they were capable of doing. The biggest opportunity was to play a team that was struggling and then bringing our game."

On the team's effort
"We played really hard tonight and the guys had fun playing. They gave great effort and they executed well. That's what I hope to have."

On heading back to the Coliseum
"We're back in LA from this point forward, and we're really excited about that. It's been a long year on the road with a lot of trips and now we have the benefit of being home to finish the season, and we need to make the most of it."

On playing a struggling Stanford team
"Sometimes you go into these games and you struggle, so it's a bit of an accomplishment. The guys who don't play a lot recognized an opportunity and made the most of it."

On Stanford's new stadium
"This was a great crowd, and it felt like a home game to us. I don't know how many people were here, but the stands were loaded with SC fans. This was really cool to play here; it felt like we were playing in a home game."
