MONTERREY, Calif.-- Stanford Sailing had mixed results at the first two regional North regattas over the weekend, finishing fourth on the first day of competition (42 points), before placing second (31) on Sunday.
The Cardinal rebounded on day two to combine for 31 points and finish second among the 22-team North-2 race. Kevin Laube and Kelly Ortel scored just five points in the B Division, winning three fo four races and finishing second another time. Eliza Richartz and McKenzie Wilson skippered the Cardinal to 26 points in the A Division.
Stanford finished just a point out of first place, with Oregon taking the title with 30 points.
In the first North race on Saturday, Tally Buckstaff and Helena Scutt skippered a division-low of 10 points over the four races, never finishing lower than fourth in any of the four races. Molly McKinney, who was a late edition due to the flu of another member of the team, along with Anna McConnell tallied 42 points, finishing sixth and fifth, as well as 13th and 18th amongst the 22 teams.
