TEMPE, Ariz. - Peter Galli secured his second fall of the day and Nathan Butler knocked-off a top-10 opponent to lead No. 18 Stanford to a 23-13 win over Arizona State, Saturday, at Wells Fargo Arena in Tempe, Arizona.

The Cardinal moves to 9-2 overall and 2-1 in the Pac-12, while the Sun Devils drop to 9-6 on the season and 0-2 in the conference.

No. 18 Connor Schram came out strong for the Cardinal at 125 pounds. The redshirt sophomore notched a 10-2 major decision over Arizona State's Ares Carpio. Leading 4-2 after the first, Schram secured four nearfall points in the second and added an escape and 2:01 of riding time for his 14th win of the season.

Redshirt freshman Brian Rossi made the team score 7-0 in favor of the Cardinal with a dominating 7-1 decision over Cord Coronado at 133 pounds. Rossi, who has wrestled at 125 and 133 pounds for Stanford this season, moves to 13-10 overall 4-3 in duals.

True freshman Joey McKenna held off ASU's Robbie Mathers for a 4-0 decision to move to 16-1 overall and 8-0 in duals. Ranked second at 141 pounds, McKenna notched a takedown in the first period, rode out Mathers in the second and then tallied an escape in the third to go with 2:50 of riding time.

Arizona's State got on the scoreboard at 149 pounds as Christian Pagdilao held off a late flurry by Stanford's Tommy Pawelski to win 11-9. Th Sun Devils cut the Cardinal score to 10-7 as No. 15 Matt Kraus, who was wrestling up a weight class, posted a 12-4 major decision over Walker Dempsey at 157 pounds.

At 165 pounds, redshirt junior Jim Wilson picked up a 10-2 major decision over Preston McCalmon. Ranked 18th, Wilson collected two takedowns, four nearfall points, an escape and 2:02 of riding time to move to 18-5 overall and 10-1 in duals this season.

Galli recorded his second fall of the day, picking up the win over Jacen Petersen at 174 pounds. Galli led 4-3 going into the final period, where he went in on a shot in the first 30 seconds and ultimately got the pin. The redshirt junior is now 15-8 overall and 7-0 in duals this season. 

ASU won the next two bouts, but the duals was already out of reach. Butler capped off the win with an upset over 10th-ranked Tanner Hall, 1-0, at heavyweight. for his first win over a ranked oppoent this season. The redshirt sophomore is now 21-4 overall and 8-1 in duals.

Stanford will have a week off from competition before it takes the mat again on Thursday, Feb. 4 at home against Oregon State.
