Home Finale

STANFORD, Calif. – Stanford hosts UCLA Saturday (Feb. 27) in its final regular-season home game. Saturday’s contest also serves as Senior Day for the Cardinal. The program will honor senior Ian Proulx prior to the contest.

THE SENIOR CLASS
Stanford lists its classes by academic year. Proulx is joined by Rosco Allen, Grant Verhoeven and Christian Sanders as part of the 2016 senior class. Allen, Verhoeven and Sanders each have one year of eligibility remaining, and are expected to return for their final season of eligibility with the program next season.

IAN PROULX
Senior Ian Proulx joined the Stanford men’s basketball program this season as a walk-on. He played in one game against Charleston Southern, before undergoing season-ending surgery for a torn labrum. Proulx is on track to graduate with a degree in Computer Science. A member of the Tau Beta Pi engineering honor society, he developed a video game as part of his senior project. Proulx’s parents, Tom and Barbara, and sister Audrey also attended Stanford. His mother and sister played on the Cardinal women’s golf team.

Stanford has four RPI top-31 wins already with victories over Oregon (5), Utah (9), California (18) and Oregon State (31) in the RPI rankings on Feb. 26.

MOST STEALS IN 19 YEARS
Stanford’s 6.9 steals-per-game average is its highest since the 1996-97 season (6.9 spg). With 180 steals already this season, the Cardinal is on pace to record at least 200 steals for the fourth time in the last five seasons. The 6.9 spg average is fourth-best in the Pac-12.

AGAINST UCLA
UCLA leads the all-time series 142-92. The Bruins have won seven of the last eight meetings. Stanford’s last victory over UCLA came on Feb. 22, 2014, an 83-74 victory for the Cardinal over the No. 25 Bruins at Maples Pavilion. Of Stanford’s current roster, only Grant Verhoeven and Marcus Allen have played in a win against UCLA. They combined to play 11 minutes in the 2014 meeting.

IT’S BEEN AWHILE
Stanford and UCLA haven’t met since the two programs squared off at Maples on Feb. 5 of last season. Game 16 of the Pac-12 slate will be the first time Stanford will face UCLA. The Cardinal will not play in Westwood this year for the first time since the 1955-56 season.
