Big Row Goes to Cal

REDWOOD SHORES, Calif. – In a top-five matchup, No. 1 California won three races against No. 5 Stanford in the 85th annual Big Row Saturday morning.
 
The Cardinal varsity eight was locked a battle with California throughout the Redwood Shores course, with the Golden Bear eight taking the Lambert Cup by six seats at the end with a time of 6:18.2 to Stanford's 6:20.1

 
The Golden Bears captured the second varsity eight race, winning 6:25.7 to the Cardinal's time of 6:36.6.
 
Stanford's varsity four battled Cal's boat for most of the course as well. The Golden Bear four surged ahead just past the midpoint, completing the course in 7:05.6 to Stanford's time of 7:09.1.
 
Cal also won the third varsity eight, defeating Stanford, 6:36.7 – 6:45.1
 
Stanford now turns its focus to the Pac-12 Championships at Lake Natoma on Sunday, May 13. Racing is set to begin at 9 a.m. PT.
