STANFORD, Calif. – No. 2 Stanford wrapped up its fall dual meet schedule with a 165-86 win over Washington State on Wednesday at Avery Aquatic Center.
Stanford, the three-time defending national champion, stretched its dual-meet win streak to 31 meets – the Cardinal has not lost a dual meet since Feb. 14, 2015. Stanford has also won 21 consecutive dual meets at Avery Aquatic Center, a streak that dates to Oct. 30, 2014.
In honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, fans attending Wednesday's meet could receive a pink and white Stanford swimming cap with a cash donation.
Stanford's team of Alexandra Crisera, Katie Drabot, Hannah Kukurugya and Amalie Fackenthal (1:41.52) claimed the first event of the day, the 200-yard medley relay and Megan Byrnes (9:58.22) followed it up with a win in the 1,000-yard freestyle.
Hannah Kukurugya (1:50.04), Emma Wheal (1:51.05) and Ashley Volpenhein (1:52.57) swept the podium in the 200-yard freestyle before Fackenthal (52.83) and Katie Glavinovich's (56.31) one-two finish in the 100-yard backstroke. Zoe Bartel (1:02.48) was the fastest swimmer in the 100-yard breaststroke, Drabot (1:56.79) and Byrnes (2:05.26) finished one-two in the 200-yard butterfly and Anya Goeders (23.09) out-touched Volpenhein (23.76) and Kira Crage (23.95) to win the 50-yard freestyle.
After a 15-minute break, Drabot (50.45) won the 100-yard freestyle, followed by Lauren Green (51.00) in second place. Allie Szekely (1:58.08) beat out Glavinovich (1:58.59) in the 200-yard backstroke, and Grace Zhao (2:16.07) and Kukurugya (2:17.54) took the top two spots in the 200-yard breaststroke.
Erin Voss (4:49.93) touched first in the 500-yard freestyle ahead of runner up Crisera (4:51.32), and Drabot (53.64) won her second event of the day, the 100-yard butterfly, in front of teammates Wheal (55.08) and Goeders (55.58).
Glavinovich (4:12.87) won the final individual event, the 400-yard individual medley, before Stanford's team of Green, Goeders, Volpenhein and Crisera (1:32.29) won the 200-yard freestyle relay.
No. 2 Stanford wraps up its fall action Nov. 21-23 at the Art Adamson Invitational in College Station, Texas.
