STANFORD, Calif. – Behind nine blocks from Madeleine Gates, No. 5 Stanford earned a 25-18, 25-12, 28-26 win over Oregon, Sunday, at Maples Pavilion.
 
Stanford (16-4) improved to 10-2 in the Pac-12, remaining in sole possession of first place in the conference with a two-match lead. Oregon (7-14) dropped to 3-9 in the league and has now lost 15 in a row to the Cardinal.
 
Stanford hit .293 as a team and posted 13.0 blocks in just three sets. Oregon was held to .102 hitting – tied for the third-lowest by a Cardinal opponent this season. The Ducks committed 24 hitting errors, including 12 in the second set.
 
Gates finished with seven kills on .353 hitting and her nine blocks, including two solo, were a season-high. Senior opposite Audriana Fitzmorris led Stanford offensively with 10 kills to go with three blocks, while freshman Natalie Berty added seven kills and two blocks in just her second career match.
 
Senior setter Jenna Gray tallied 28 assists, five kills on .714 hitting, four digs and two blocks. Senior libero Morgan Hentz totaled 10 digs and five assists, while defensive specialists Caitlin Keefe and Kate Formico had eight digs apiece. Keefe had a career-high two assists and put down her first ace of the year, while Formico also had an ace.
 


Sophomore Holly Campbell hit .600 (6-0-10) and recorded four blocks, while junior Meghan McClure turned in five kills, six digs, three blocks and three aces.
 
Senior Willow Johnson and sophomore Brooke Nuneviller were an identical 11-4-25 (.280) to lead the Ducks. Senior Ronika Stone added nine kills and three blocks.
 
Stanford hits the road next week, traveling to Arizona State on Thursday and Arizona on Friday. Thursday's match in Tempe will be televised on Pac-12 Networks.
