Rajesh Clinches Upset

STANFORD, Calif. – Freshman Neel Rajesh earned a win at No. 5 singles to clinch a 4-3 comeback win for No. 13 Stanford over No. 5 Ohio State, Wednesday, at Taube Family Tennis Center.

No.13 Stanford (8-5) fell behind 3-1 before handing the Buckeyes (13-3) their third straight loss. The Cardinal snapped a four-match skid of its own.

Ohio State won the doubles point and No. 29 Kyler Seelig defeated No. 69 Sangeet Sridhar in straight sets, 6-4, 6-2, to take a 2-0 lead over the Cardinal.

Junior Axel Geller, ranked No. 37, knocked off No. 13 John McNally at No. 1 singles, 7-5, 6-1, to get the Cardinal on the scoreboard. Stanford's Alexandre Rotsaert fell to No. 14 Cannon Kingsley, 7-5, 6-4, at No. 3.

Freshman Filip Kolasinski started the Cardinal comeback with a 6-4, 7-5 win over Robert Cash at No. 6 singles. Junior Timothy Sah earned a 7-6 (5) win in the first set to keep the Cardinal hopes alive, and went on to defeat Justin Boulais in straight sets.

Rajesh sealed the win, topping No. 78 James Trotter in the decisive third set, 6-3.

Stanford will be in action this weekend at Pacific Coast Doubles in La Jolla.
