First Regatta Complete at Head of the Charles

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Opening the 2021-22 campaign, Stanford lightweight rowing placed fifth at the Head of the Charles Regatta on Sunday.
 
The Cardinal stopped the clock at 18:55.262, trailing only MIT by 15.7 seconds, but was given a 65-second penalty to end in fifth place overall. Stanford finishes ahead of Radcliffe and Gordon, but falls below Boston University and Princeton due to the penalty.
 
Stanford led through the opening checkpoint, pulling ahead by nearly five seconds over the opening leg. MIT took control in the second half of the race to claim the win.
 
The Head of the Charles is a three-mile race that was established in 1965.
