IRVINE, Calif. - No. 1 Stanford breezed to a 21-3 victory over Pomona-Pitzer on Friday morning in the opening round of the Barbara Kalbus Invitational.
The defending tournament champion and five-time winner of the event, Stanford (9-0) looked crisp despite being idle since defeating UC Davis and Pacific back on Feb. 12.
The Cardinal received goals from 14 different players, as Alissa Pascual led all scorers with three goals during a two-minute span to close out the third period.
Pascual was one of four Stanford players who found the cage for the first time this season, along with Kai Blankenship, Sam Sternfels and Talie Wilmans.
Stanford converted 63.6 percent of its 33 shot attempts, including a 3-of-8 mark on the power play.
Pomona-Pitzer was limited to 15.0 percent shooting overall and became the sixth opponent in nine games that Stanford has held scoreless over at least an eight-minute stretch.
Jackie King played the entire game in goal, making five saves.
Stanford plays its next game on Saturday, Feb. 25, at 8 a.m., against the winner of Long Beach State/Michigan.
