Season in Review: Lightweight Rowing

A NATIONAL RUNNER-UP finish in the Varsity+ 8 race provided the 2022-23 season highlight for the Stanford women's lightweight rowing program.

The team of coxswain Lydia Garnett, freshman Juliette Lermusiaux at stroke, Hannah Justicz, Emily Molins, Brooke Ruszkiewicz, Ella Moore, Lauren Howe, Mikayla Chen and bow seat Sophie Molins placed second to Princeton by six seconds to secure second at the Intercollegiate Rowing Association Championships in West Windsor, New Jersey.

The Cardinal finished sixth in the overall standings and also got a boost from a seventh-place finish from the Varsity4+ team of coxswain Valerie Gonzalez, Charlotte Burnham, Annie Cloud, Dhamanpreet Kaur, and Jordan Stock. 

Justicz and Lermusiaux were named Pocock Racing Shells All-Americans and, in addition to their IRA success, were part of the Varsity Eight+ boat that captured the Western Intercollegiate Rowing Association title. In addition to the Eight, the Cardinal 4+ boat won a WIRA crown at Lake Natoma in Folsom.
