RANCHO CORDOVA, Calif. – The Stanford women's lightweight rowing teams competed against collegiate openweight teams on Saturday and held their own at the Head of the American regatta.
The lightweight 8+, with Juliette Lermusiaux at stroke, placed seventh among a field of 27 entrants. The Cardinal reached the finish in 17:26.5 over the 2,000-meter course on Lake Natoma.
The eights included coxswain Lydia Garnett and all four rowers – Lermusiaux, Emily Molins, Brooke Ruszkiewicz, and Hannah Justicz -- from the team that won the lightweight 4+ at the Head of the Charles a week earlier. Elle Rosenfeld joined Justicz and Molins in the engine room, with Brooke Legezowski and Jordan Stock in the Nos. 2 and 3 seats, and Lauren Koester in the bow seat.
On Saturday, Stanford's 4+ placed third in a 15-team field. The team of coxswain Marrisa Chow, stroke Sophie Molins, Caitlyn Holmstrom in the No. 3 seat, Hannah Peters at No. 2, and bow Annie Cloud were timed in 19:35.3.
The Stanford lights sent two pairs into the masters openweight 2's. Though both were classified as exhibition competitors, they finished with the two fastest times among the 10 teams that took the starting line. Sophia Ramaraju at stroke and Hannah Peters at bow were clocked in 20:27.9 and Anna Meurer at stroke and Mikayla Chen at bow were next in 20:54.7.
