BOULDER, Colo. - The Cardinal secured its fifth victory in a row on Friday afternoon, taking down No. 19 Colorado 18-12. Aliya Polisky scored seven goals, her third straight game with at least four, and tying for the fifth most in program history.
Stanford improves to 5-2 and 1-0 in Pac-12 play while Colorado drops to 5-3 and 0-1 in the conference.
The two teams traded blows early as the Buffaloes advanced to a 5-3 lead after the first quarter. The Cardinal responded, holding the hosts to only a single goal in the second and scoring three to knot the game at six heading into the halftime break.
Stanford then came into the third quarter on fire, tallying 10 goals while holding Colorado to only two. The Cardinal went on to add two more in the fourth quarter to put the game away and solidify the win.
Polisky contributed to 10 of Stanford's goals on the day, scoring seven while dishing three assists. Her 10 points are the third most in a single game in Stanford history.
Jordyn Case provided plenty of offensive firepower as well, scoring a career-high five goals while also dishing an assist. Jay Browne and Peep Williams also netted two goals apiece while Rylee Bouvier and Annabel Frist each chipped in one.
Lucy Pearson was dominant in goal for Stanford, recording a career-high 14 saves, twice as much as her previous high. She faced 37 shots from the Buffaloes and recorded a save percentage of .538.
Annabel Frist continued to flex her muscle in the draw circle, collecting 12 of Stanford's 19 draw controls along with a goal and two assists. She also shared the lead for the Cardinal in caused turnovers, forcing two along with Kate Bellissimo.
Stanford's defensive unit made plays all day long, causing seven of the Buffaloes 14 turnovers. Emma Capanna even provided an assist in the game, running the length of the field and setting up one of Polisky's goals.
The Cardinal will look to keep the momentum going on Sunday afternoon against No. 14 Denver as it wraps up its Colorado road trip.
