ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – Stanford junior Alyssa Jones, a six-time All-American, is scheduled to make her season indoor track and field debut Friday at the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Collegiate Invitational.

Card men and women jumpers, sprinters, and throwers are entered in the two-day meet at the Albuquerque Convention Center, which sits at an elevation of 5,312 feet.

Jones, Stanford’s school-record holder and a two-time Pac-12 champion, was the 2023 NCAA outdoor long-jump runner-up and has four NCAA top-four finishes in the event. Jones also is slated to run the 60 meters on Saturday.

Last week, Stanford competed at the UW Indoor Preview in Seattle. Tess Stapleton and Teagan Zwaanstra were among the Cardinal winners and both compete in Albuquerque. Stapleton won the 60 hurdles and long jump in Seattle and competes in both, and Zwaanstra will attempt to earn back-to-back victories in the 60. She also competes in the long jump.

Garrett Brown, eighth at the 2023 NCAA Indoor Championships in the pole vault, makes his season debut. Brown, a two-time All-American, now is a senior.

In the 35-pound weight throw, Anthony Argyropoulos is coming off a personal-best performance, placing second at the UW Preview with a toss of 66-5 (20.24 meters), which placed him No. 6 on Stanford’s all-time list.

Expected to make his collegiate debut is freshman sprinter Ryce Reynolds. The 2024 Iowa Gatorade Track and Field Player of the Year is entered in the 200 and 400.

Overall, 22 Cardinal are entered – 12 men and 10 women.
