STANFORD, Calif. – Stanford was well represented with five All-MPSF postseason award selections, highlighted by Ryann Neushul being named the conference’s Player of the Year.
Neushul led the way with a spot on the first team while Christine Carpenter, Jenna Flynn and Jewel Roemer earned spots on the second team. Juliette Dhalluin was tabbed an honorable mention pick.
Stanford was awarded at least five all-conference recipients for the sixth time over the last seven seasons. The Cardinal (19-1, 5-1 MPSF), ranked No. 2 in the country after holding down the top spot for much of the season, has swept its two meetings against defending NCAA champion UCLA and earned a split against USC.
Headlining the selections was Neushul, who becomes Stanford’s eighth all-time MPSF Player of the Year recipient, joining Makenzie Fischer (2019), Maggie Steffens (2015, 2017), Annika Dries (2011), Brenda Villa (2001, 2003) and Ellen Estes (1998). Neushul is also the second student-athlete in MPSF history to earn both a player of the year and newcomer of the year honor (2019), joining UCLA’s Maddie Musselman.
Flynn, Neushul and Roemer have all been named to the Peter J. Cutino Award Watch List, one year after taking a leave of absence and redshirt year to train and compete with Team USA at the Paris Summer Olympics. Stanford, which leads the nation with three Cutino Award selections, has boasted seven players combining to win the award 10 times.
A member of three NCAA championship teams and three-time ACWPC All-American, Neushul is a four-time all-conference pick and competing in her seventh season on The Farm. Neushul ranks second on the team in goals (46), assists (30) and shots (80) while tied for the lead in multi-goal games (16). A two-time MPSF/Delfina Player of the Week honoree, Neushul’s 214 career goals rank tied for seventh in school history. Neushul has totaled 14 goals and 14 assists within the six-game conference schedule.
Flynn leads the Cardinal with 52 goals while also contributing 22 assists, 93 shot attempts, 10 hat tricks and 16 multi-goal games. An ACWPC All-American and MPSF Newcomer of the Year in 2023, Flynn is a two-time all-conference selection. Flynn was one of four freshmen in school history to score at least 60 goals in her debut season, joining Brenda Villa (69 in 2001), Suze Gardner (63 in 1997) and Maggie Steffens (60 in 2013).
Roemer, a two-time NCAA champion with 156 career goals, is also a three-time ACWPC All-American and four-time all-conference selection. She ranks third on the squad in goals (39) and is tied for the lead in assists (30) to go along with 66 shots. Among conference players, Roemer ranks second in sprint wins (34) and fifth in field blocks (12).
Carpenter, who earned her first career all-conference honor, has made a team-leading 115 saves this season while filling a key spot vacated by two-time All-American goalkeeper Maya Avital. Named MPSF Player of the Week for Feb. 25, Carpenter totaled 24 saves in three games at the Barbara Kalbus Invitational (Feb. 21-23), including a career-high 13 stops against USC in the final.
A 2023 third-team All-American transfer from Arizona State, Dhalluin has totaled 28 goals and 30 assists while making an immediate impact in her first season on The Farm. Two years ago, she compiled Sun Devil rookie records of 70 goals, 38 assists and 48 steals in 2023. Dhalluin also has extensive international experience, most recently competing with France at the 2024 Paris Summer Olympics.
Stanford battles No. 10 Arizona State on Friday in the MPSF Championship first round. The Cardinal is seeking its eighth MPSF title and third in the past four seasons after repeating in 2022-23. Stanford also won the MPSF championship in 2014, 2006, 2003, 2001 and 2000. There have been three seasons in which the Cardinal has won both the MPSF and NCAA titles (2014, 2022, 2023).
