LAST TIME OUT

  • Finishing the regular season on the road at California on October 30, Stanford put up a season-high eight goals to record an 8-2 victory over the Golden Bears
  • Teamed with a Notre Dame loss, the win clinched Stanford’s first ACC regular-season championship in outright fashion as the Cardinal and Notre Dame entered Thursday with identical conference records atop the standings
  • The Cardinal scored early and often in the victory, with sophomore Charlotte Kohler finding the back of the net in just the third minute
  • Eleanor Klinger made it 2-0 in the 20th minute before the first of two goals from Jasmine Aikey handed Stanford a 3-0 lead in the 26th minute
  • Former cardinal Lumi Kostmayer got the Bears on the board early in the second half, but Aikey buried a free kick from just outside the box in the 61st minute to respond and run the tally to 4-1
  • Three more Cardinal goals, including tallies from Andrea Kitahata in the 75th, Brooke Holden in the 82nd and Jaden Thomas in the 84th, extended the Cardinal lead to 7-1
  • After Cal put back a rebound following a blocked penalty kick from Stanford goalkeeper Kaiya Jota in the 85th minute, junior Erica Grilione scored her first goal of the season in the 89th minute to put the finishing touches on the rout

  • Having clinched the regular-season ACC title, Stanford was well-represented in the conference end of year awards process
  • Elise Evans was named ACC Defensive Player of the Year, Caroline Birkel was selected ACC Goalkeeper of the Year, and Paul Ratcliffe was named ACC Coach of the Year
  • Jasmine Aikey, Birkel, Evans and Andrea Kitahata were named to the All-ACC first team, while Shae Harvey and Charlotte Kohler landed on the second team
  • Having turned in spectacular first seasons on The Farm, Birkel and Y-Lan Nguyen were named to the ACC All-Freshman team
  • For Ratcliffe, the conference Coach of the Year selection is his 10th overall, including his first since being named Pac-12 Coach of the Year in 2018
  • Evans is Stanford’s sixth Defensive Player of the Year selection, including the first since Naomi Girma earned the Pac-12’s top defender award in 2021

AIKEY NAMED ACC OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK

  • Senior Jasmine Aikey has twice been named ACC Offensive Player of the Week, earning the award on October 14 and October 31
  • With the two this year, Aikey has earned five weekly selections in her career ... she was named Pac-12 Offensive Player of the Week once during the 2022 and 2023 seasons before earning ACC Defensive Player of the Week on September 17, 2024
  • Aikey most recently earned the award after scoring a pair of goals with two assists to help Stanford to an 8-2 victory at Cal on October 30
  • Aikey scored in the 26th minute and and added a free-kick goal in the 61st to defeat Cal, with her first of the afternoon serving as the game-winner
  • Pitt's Abby Reisz was named the final Defensive Player of the Week of the season
  • Having led Stanford to a 2-0 week that included a 2-1 victory over No. 1 Virginia, Aikey was named ACC Offensive Player of the Week on October 14

  • Freshman goalkeeper Caroline Birkel has started every match of her inaugural campaign on The Farm, while Lily Freer has started all but four while logging 1,138 minutes - including the full 90 in eight contests
  • Fellow freshmen Brooke Holden and Y-Lan Nguyen have also played in all 17 matches this season

  • Junior Mia Bhuta was among the 43 players named to the 2025 Missouri Athletic Club Hermann Trophy Watch List prior to the start of the season
  • Seniors Jasmine Aikey and Elise Evans were listed on the updated midseason watch list announced on October 7
  • The Hermann Trophy is presented annually by the Missouri Athletic Club and is the nation’s highest individual honor recognizing the National Player of the Year as determined by voting of Division I head coaches who are members of United Soccer Coaches
  • The award is named in honor of the late Robert Hermann, the legendary St. Louis, Mo., businessman and soccer executive who founded the National Professional Soccer League, the first pro soccer league in the United States which became the North American Soccer League. He was inducted in the U.S. Soccer Hall of Fame in 2012 ... Hermann was inducted in the U.S. Soccer Hall of Fame in 2012
  • A Cardinal player has claimed three of the last eight MAC Hermann trophies, with Andi Sullivan earning the award in 2017, followed by Catarina Macario becoming a back-to-back winner in 2018 and 2019 ... Kelley O'Hara was the first Stanford player to win the MAC Hermann Trophy at the conclusion of the 2009 season ...   • Tierna Davidson, Naomi Girma and Sophia Smith won gold playing with Team USA at the 2024 Paris Olympics
  • While 2024 marked the first Olympic gold for the trio, the Olympic medal was the second of Davidson’s career after helping the U.S. to a bronze at the Tokyo Games in 2020
