STANFORD, Calif. – Courtney Ogden had a 23-point, 10-rebound double-double, but Stanford lost to visiting Notre Dame 78-66 on Sunday afternoon.

The defeat, Stanford’s fourth in a row, dropped the Cardinal to 15-8 overall and 4-6 in the ACC. Hannah Hidalgo had 37 points for the Irish.

Stanford played from behind most of the day and took just its second lead of the game, first since it was 5-4, when Ogden made a layup midway through the third quarter to put her team up one, 44-43.

Hidalgo would score five straight to push Notre Dame back in front for good. Stanford was within four when Shay Ijiwoye made a pair of free throws late in the third, but Hidalgo hit a fading baseline bucket as the quarter buzzer sounded.

Malaya Cowles made the first two baskets of the fourth quarter on the block to give Notre Dame its first double-digit lead with 9:04 left, 62-52.

Notre Dame shot 67.9 percent in the second half (19-of-28) and Hidalgo was a perfect 7-for-7. The Irish outscored the Cardinal 50-28 in the paint.

Chloe Clardy had 16 points for Stanford, Alexandra Eschmeyer had 13 and Hailee Swain 10.

Eschmeyer and Swain were in the starting lineup with Lara Somfai, giving Stanford three freshmen starters for the second consecutive game. Before Thursday night, the Cardinal hadn’t done that since January 1992. Swain played the full 40 minutes.

Stanford has now lost four consecutive games the same season for the first time since January and February 1987. The Cardinal has also last its last three at home for the first time since 1985-86.

Stanford is back on the road next weekend beginning with a game at Pittsburgh on Thursday, Feb. 5 at 3 p.m. PT/6 p.m. ET.
