No. 2 Stanford hosts No. 22/24 Duke to begin three-game homestand

STANFORD, Calif. — Having earned a clinical 2-0 record in its most recent road trip, No. 2 Stanford is back in action this weekend as it hosts No. 22/24 Duke on Sunday, March 8. Opening draw from Cagan Stadium against the Blue Devils is slated for 1 p.m. PT.

No. 2 Stanford (7-0, 4-0 ACC) is back in the friendly confines of Cagan Stadium having earned a road-trip sweep in the Commonwealth of Virginia, dispatching the No. 21/18 Virginia Cavaliers, 16-8, last Saturday before claiming a 16-6 win over Virginia Tech in a midweek tilt on Tuesday. Against Virginia, Stanford utilized a 6-1 lead through the first quarter to dispel any thought of a Cavalier comeback. Mallory Hasselbeck recorded six points in the win while Aliya Polisky led the team with four goals in the rout over Virginia. Meanwhile, the Cardinal defense caused 13 turnovers while Lucy Pearson recorded five saves as the Cardinal earned its third Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) win of the season. 

Stanford continued its roll during the road trip with a third-quarter onslaught against the Hokies, earning the road trip sweep with a 16-6 win in Blacksburg. Mallory Hasselbeck led the Cardinal with a career outing for the fifth year, recording a career single-game high in goals (4), assists (3) and points (7). Ava Arceri also tied her season high with four goals on the afternoon while 10 Cardinal recorded a point in the outing. Defensively, Stanford stood tall, allowing just three goals in the final three quarters while posting a scoreless run of 45:41 across the first and fourth quarters. Rylee Bouvier, Jordyn Case and Kate Bellissimo tallied seven of Stanford’s 11 caused turnovers on the afternoon while Lucy Pearson recorded a season-high six saves in the win. 

Aliya Polisky leads the Cardinal in scoring through seven games this season, holding the team lead with a two-point outing against the Hokies on Tuesday as she owns a 21-11-32 line so far this season. Polisky leads the team in goals with 21 this season as she has scored in every game in 2026. Mallory Hasselbeck slots in second in points with 30 after her career outing against Virginia Tech. Hasselbeck has recorded 13 points in the last two games and has earned four or more points in five-straight games. Offensively, Stanford has 13 players who have scored this season while Tuesday’s outing marked the fourth time this season the Cardinal has had eight or more goal scorers in a single game. 

Stanford ranks third in the ACC in assists per game, averaging 7.71 through seven games as Hasselbeck owns the lead in helpers with 15. Polisky ranks second in that regard with 11 on the campaign as 12 players have recorded an assist this season. 

On the circle, Jordyn Case leads the Cardinal with 27 draw controls on the campaign having earned nine across the two-game road trip. Case recorded seven draw controls in the win over Virginia, tying her career high for the third time in her career. Annabel Frist slots second on the Cardinal with 20 draw controls this season as she sits 34 back from tying Genesis Lucero (2016-21) for the program record in draw controls as Frist has totalled 338 in her career. Rylee Bouvier has also done well on the circle with 10 draw controls so far in seven games.

Defensively, Rylee Bouvier leads the Cardinal having been named ACC Defensive Player of the Week two weeks ago. Bouvier leads the Cardinal with 16 caused turnovers including three in the win over Virginia. Following Bouvier, Kate Bellissimo, Kaleigh Sommers and Annabel Frist sit second with nine on the campaign. Bellissimo and Sommers also sit tied for the team lead in ground balls with 16 on the campaign. 

In cage, Lucy Pearson owns a perfect 7-0 record this season having earned a season-high six saves in the win over Virginia Tech on Tuesday. Pearson owns a 5.91 goals-against average coupled with a .415 save percentage. Entering Sunday, Pearson ranks second all-time in goals-against average (8.88) and is sixth all-time in games played by a goalkeeper with 48. Pearson and her defensive corps have yet to allow double-digit goals in a game this season as the Cardinal own the fourth-best scoring defense in the nation, holding the opposition to an average of 6.57 goals-against. Also earning minutes, Ella Morton saw action in the win over USC in what was her third appearance in 2026. Morton has made two saves on 11 shots faced so far in 2026.
