THIS WEEK: The Cardinal continues its run at postseason play in the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation as it matches up with the UOP Tigers. Before the conference showdown, Stanford plays host to Cal Berkeley in a free admission exhibition of bitter rivals.

STANFORD IN THE POLLS: The Cardinal, off to a 10-12 start overall with a 9-10 record in MPSF play remained at No. 10 in the latest USA Today/AVCA poll.

LAST WEEK: Middle Blockers Craig Buell and Chris Ahlfeldt led a hard-hittingCardinal attack as Stanford blanked the UC Irvine Anteaters 3-0 to improve to 10-11 (9-9 MPSF). Buell posted an errorless hitting exhibition, putting away 14 kills, hitting .737, and adding a solo block. Ahlfeldt ended the match with 12 kills, hitting .400, along with four block assists. Kevin Hansen fed 32 assists in route to a .283 team hitting percentage, while defensively Brian Lindberg paced the Cardinal with 10 digs.Versus UCLA, the momentum jumped toward the Cardinal after a remarkable rally. Down two games to one, Stanford went ahead by two points in game four after a UCLA attempt was dug near the scorer's table and Hansen performeda sliding kick save to keep the ball in play. The ensuing UCLA attempt was solo blocked by Ahlfeldt. The Bruins answered, solidifying their No. 2 ranking by forcing the game to extra points before closing out the match 1-3 (30-25, 33-35, 21-30, 34-36).

SCOUTING THE BEARS: The Bears are led by head coach Gernot Hupfauf. Hupfauf played professional volleyball in Austria 1996-2000 and started at setter for the Austrian National team 1999-2002.

SCOUTING THE TIGERS: Pacific's set-spike duo of Mitch Hazelett and Brian Zodrow has teamed up for 1144 assists and 406 kills, respectively. As a team, Pacific is hitting .269, with their opponents coming in at .265. The Cardinal is 2-0 versus the Tigers in 2005, both 3-0 victories.

THE 4000 CLUB: Fifth-year senior setter Kevin Hansen now sits third on Stanford's list of career leaders in assists with 4,851. Hansen is a three-time All-MPSF selection and was named a third team All-American following the 2004 season. Hansen's 12.83 assists per game ranks ninth all-time among Stanford setters.
