STANFORD, Calif. – Picking up two wins Sunday, the Stanford wrestling team improved to 5-2 overall with a 31-12 win over Menlo College and a 27-9 victory against Brown at Burnham Pavilion.

The Cardinal won seven of the 10 bouts in both matches as 15 different wrestlers took the mat. Redshirt freshman Connor Schram and redshirt sophomore Jim Wilson both nabbed two wins on the day.

Schram, who dropped his first career match at Oregon State on Saturday, bounced back with a 3-1 decision over Menlo’s Brian Ha and an 8-3 decision against Brown’s Zeke Salvo at 133 pounds. He moves to 6-1 on the year.

Wilson, ranked 14th nationally, edged Menlo’s Eric Lopez 3-2 at 165 pounds for his 20th win of the year. He then secured his fastest fall of the season in 2:17 over Brown’s L.J. Remillard. He sits at 21-4 overall and 5-1 in duals.

Also registering wins for the Cardinal against Menlo were redshirt sophomore Peter Galli, junior Dylan Morris and redshirt sophomore Ryan Davies. Galli snapped a four-match skid with a 5-0 decision over Sam Duchene at 157 pounds. Morris recorded his second fall of the season, making quick work of Zach Grove at 174 pounds. Davies turned in his fourth major decision of the year, posting a 14-4 victory over Nick Karis at 184 pounds.

Redshirt sophomore Zach Nevills and redshirt freshman Nathan Butler both collected forfeit wins for the team at 197 and 285 pounds, respectively.

Against Brown, redshirt junior Evan Silver, ranked No. 14 in the nation, earned his 10th win of the season with an 8-3 decision over Billy Watterson at 125 pounds. At 141 pounds, true freshman Isaiah Locsin registered a fall in 2:27, his third of the year, against Anthony Finocchiaro.

Redshirt senior Garrett Schaner was also victorious Sunday, grinding out a 5-3 decision against Brown’s William McDonald. He trailed 2-1 after the first period, but recorded an escape and a takedown in the second to gain the lead. He finished with 2:02 of advantage time to improve to 13-11 overall and 3-3 in duals.

Nevills earned his second win of the day with a 3-1 decision over Brown’s Ophir Bernstein at 184 pounds. With no score after two periods, Nevills scored a reversal in the third to take a 2-0 lead. Bernstein was then awarded a point for an illegal move, but Nevills had racked up 3:52 of riding time for the win.

Butler finished things off for the Cardinal with a 7-0 decision over Sebastien Levin, who was wrestling up a weight class for the Bears. Butler leads the team with 22 wins on the season.
