Newest Cardinal

STANFORD, Calif. - Bradford M. Freeman Director of Football David Shaw announced Wednesday the signing of 23 incoming student-athletes who will continue their academic and athletic careers at Stanford.

Some of the best high school talent in the country will join the Cardinal on The Farm in 2019. Student-athletes from Stanford's recruiting class hail from 12 states: California (9), Colorado (2), Georgia, Indiana, Maryland, Missouri, New Jersey, New York, Nevada, North Carolina, Pennsylvania and Texas (3).

Stanford's 2019 recruiting class was ranked among the Top 25 in the nation by PrepStar (15th), Rivals (17th) and 247Sports (18th). For an in-depth look at each member of the Stanford recruiting class, click here.

Stanford signed 12 newcomers who received a four-star rating from recruiting outlets, including nine All-Americans and 10 signees ranking among their respective state's top-10 recruits. Fourteen signees rank among the top-25 nationally at their position.

Eleven positions will be replenished with the incoming class, including multiple running backs, wide receivers, offensive tackles, offensive guards, outside linebackers, inside linebackers, safeties and cornerbacks.

The 2019 freshman class will be joined by inside linebacker Levani Damuni (Providence, Utah/Ridgeland), who signed with Stanford in 2017. Damuni is finishing his second year of an LDS church mission in New Zealand.

Coach Shaw on #CardClass19"In the 2019 class we addressed our needs of both numbers and quality.

First on the offensive line, we needed to sign at least five with a combination of length, size, athleticism and versatility. We'll see as time goes on which of these guys may be able to help us early, but more importantly we believe they will develop into a very strong core of our team.

Next, the secondary. Speed, length and athleticism are all paramount in college football. We've added five young men that fit that bill - some have the flexibility to play nickel, corner or safety.

Staying on the defensive side, versatile linebackers are vital in our defense.  We've added guys that can play inside linebacker, outside linebacker and some that can even play the defensive end position and rush the passer. Adding Damuni to the group, returning from his mission, makes it that much more exciting.

Offensively, we've added two physical and explosive running backs who should be a great 1-2 punch for years to come.

As our history has shown, Stanford is the place for versatile tight ends, and we know Bradley Archer will be a perfect fit.

I'm very excited about our additions at wide receiver - we added size, dependability, speed and play-making ability.

Finally, it is a great time to add Ryan Sanborn, a young talented punter for Pete Alamar to groom for the future."
