SAN ANTONIO, Texas - In its second-straight meet on the road to begin the 2023 campaign, Stanford fell to Incarnate Word 105-72. The Cardinal moves to 1-1 on the season, while Incarnate Word earned its first victory of the season.
Hampered by illness just days before meet, the short-handed Cardinal had many routines impacted and scratched due to a smaller number of healthy student-athletes available to compete.
In the solo competition, Lindi Schroeder took second overall with a score of 82.3000, coming in .03 behind Mikaelee Gauthier from Incarnate Word. Yujin Chang also competed in the solo event, earning fifth place with a 74.7000.
Schroeder also competed in the duet with Hailee Heinrich, utilizing an adjusted trio routine due to the unavailability of another Cardinal swimmer. The improvised duo took fourth place, recording a 79.3333.
Miko Begossi and Ivy Davis also competed in the duet, with the freshmen duo combining to earn sixth place and a mark of 75.8333.
The Cardinal finished in third and fourth in the trio, as the combination of Ava Jih Schiff, Audrey Nguyen, and Emmanuella Tchakmakjian scored a 75.0000 for bronze. Emily Brieant, Natalie Greenfield, and Atira O'Neil came in right behind, scoring a 69.5667.
Four Cardinal also earned spots in the top ten of the A Elements competition, including an event win for Emmanuella Tchakmakjian at 80.0697. Lindi Schroeder was next for Stanford in sixth, followed by Miko Begossi and Yujin Chang in ninth and 10th respectively.
Stanford will look to bounce back against Ohio State this upcoming weekend in the first home meet of the season. The technical competition will take place on Saturday, February 11, and the trio, duet, solo, and team competitions will commence in that order on Sunday, February 12 at 11 a.m. in the Avery Aquatic Center.
