WEST WINDSOR, N.J. – All three Stanford boats set themselves up to race for national women's lightweight titles through their performances at the Intercollegiate Rowing Association Championships on Saturday on Mercer Lake.
Stanford, Boston University, and Princeton are the only three schools to qualify for all three grand finals Sunday and are in the best contention to win the Commissioner's Cup, which rewards the best overall women's lightweight program through an accumulation of points among the Eight, Four and Double Scull events.
The Stanford V4+ boat, stroked by Brooke Legenzowski and coxed by Marrisa Chow, won its heat by more than five seconds to highlight Cardinal performances. The bucket-rigged Cardinal boat clocked 7:21.927 over 2,000 meters for the fastest time in either semifinal. The Heat 1 winner, Princeton, was timed in 7:23.307.
The Stanford double sculls team of Hannah Peters at stroke and Sophia Ramaraju at bow placed third in Heat 2 to advance automatically to the A final.
In the eights, six boats raced for lanes in a single heat with none being eliminated. Stanford, stroked by Anna Meurer and coxed by Lydia Garnett, was third, with the top three boats – including Princeton and Radcliffe – finishing within 2.2 seconds of each other.
Stanford will race in the eights final in Lane Two.
Stanford has won the Commissioner's Cup five times, most recently in 2019. Stanford last won the double sculls in 2017, the fours in 2021, and the eights in 2019.
