4 titles won at NCAA Championships

      

It didn't take long for No. 3 Stanford to tally its first national champions of the 2025 NCAA Swimming and Diving Championships, as Caroline BrickerAurora RoghairLillie Nordmann, and Kayla Wilson put on a dominant display to claim the 800 freestyle relay title on Wednesday evening. 

Torri Huske topped a loaded 200 IM field to give the Cardinal its first individual champion of the weekend. A new career-high for the Stanford record holder, Huske clocked a 1:49.87 to become just the third woman ever to swim under 1:50.00 in the 200 IM. The win is the first individual NCAA title in Huske’s decorated career, adding to her 800 free relay title in 2022. 

No. 3 Stanford added a national title for the third consecutive day at the NCAA Swimming and Diving Championships, as Caroline Bricker secured her first NCAA individual crown by winning the 400 IM on Friday evening. 

The sophomore posted a 3:57.26 in the “A” final, over two seconds faster than her previous career best, posting the ninth-fastest 400 IM time in history and climbing to third all-time in the Stanford ranks. The day also included a title from Lucy Bell in the 200 meter breaststroke where she broke a new school record of 2:04.28.

Cao captures women’s foil crown, Cardinal posts best team finish at NCAAs since 2014

    

For the first time since 2015, a Stanford fencer is an NCAA Champion. Sophomore Arianna Cao took the women’s foil crown to become the program’s 15th individual champion, leading a Cardinal team that posted a ninth-place finish for the first time since 2014.

Cao is the Cardinal’s fourth women’s foil champion in program history, and first since Iris Zimmerman in 2001. The last member of the Cardinal women’s team to take home an NCAA Championship was Vivian Kong, winning epee in 2014.

No. 14 Stanford women's gymnastics win its first conference title since 2008, the school's first ACC team title

     

Stanford women’s gymnastics brought home the university’s first Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) title Saturday evening, posting a season-high score of 197.775.

The ACC title win by Stanford came off the program's tied-for-sixth best team total, guided by its second-best bars rotation in the school's history and the tied-for-eighth best floor score in the Cardinal's record books.

Cardinal Bats Explode to Sweep Notre Dame

       

The No. 17 Cardinal pounced for eight runs in the top of the first, and shut out Notre Dame to win 10-0 in five innings tonight. Stanford moved to 21-3 on the season and 6-1 in ACC play, thanks to Kyra Chan’s four-RBI day at the plate.

 

No. 17 Stanford won a third-straight ACC series today, topping Notre Dame 6-2 to move to 22-3 on the season and 7-1 in conference play. River Mahler led the way with four RBI as the Cardinal picked up a 10th-straight win.

 

The No. 17 Cardinal swept a second ACC series in as many tries today, winning 13-7 at Notre Dame to move to 23-3 on the season and 8-1 in ACC play. The three-game sweep keeps alive a Stanford winning streak that now sits at 11 games. Joie Economides led the way with two of the Card’s four total home runs.

Women's Water Polo starts off 15-0 with a pair of weekend wins

       

Ryann Neushul and Jenna Flynn scored four goals apiece to power No. 1 Stanford to a 16-5 victory over Harvard on Saturday afternoon at Avery Aquatic Center. Playing only its second home match and returning to the pool for the first time in two weeks, Stanford (14-0, 1-0 MPSF) looked crisp and efficient offensively and defensively.

 

Juliette Dhalluin’s season-high four goals paced a dominating offensive attack as No. 1 Stanford overpowered No. 18 San Jose State 20-4 on Sunday afternoon at Avery Aquatic Center. Completing a weekend homestand sweep, Stanford (15-0, 2-0 MPSF) maintained its streak of scoring at least 10 goals in every game this season.

Stanford senior Teagan Zwaanstra continued her indoor success by opening the outdoor track and field season with a victory at the Hornet Invitational on Saturday. Zwaanstra, an Atlantic Coast Conference Indoor Championships finalist in the 60 meters, captured the 100 at Hornet Stadium in a personal-record 11.46 seconds. Her previous bests were a wind-aided 11.68 and a wind-legal 11.77.

Card wins first ACC road dual at Virginia Tech

          

No. 28 Stanford won its first ACC road dual with a 4-2 victory at No. 54 Virginia Tech on Friday.

Chidimma Okpara clinched at No. 5 singles for the Cardinal (11-3, 4-1 ACC) with a 7-6 (1), 6-2 result over Laima Frosch. It’s Okpara’s second clincher in 2025, the other coming on Feb. 26 against Saint Mary’s. Okpara also teamed with Morgan Shaffer at No. 3 doubles to clinch that point for Stanford 6-3. The pair is an unbeaten 3-0 in duals this spring.

No. 8 Stanford men’s tennis picked up a road victory in ACC play, downing No. 63 Virginia Tech, 4-0, at Burrows-Burleson Tennis Center. Earning its fifth consecutive victory, the Cardinal improves to 13-4 this season and 5-2 in the ACC.

Another full weekend of competition on the water for Stanford sailing, as the Cardinal returned home after competing in three separate regattas on Saturday and Sunday.

The weekend was highlighted by a regatta win at the PCCSC South Designate, along with a runner-up effort at the Friis Trophy Open Team Race and a third-place finish in the Szambecki Open Team Race.

Garvin Sixth, Knox Eighth in Philadelphia

    

Hunter Garvin placed sixth at 165 pounds and Tyler Knox finished eighth at 133 pounds on the final day of the NCAA Championships at the Wells Fargo Center. Stanford finished tied for 18th place as a team with 21.0 points. It marks the 10th top-20 finish in program history and the second straight under Chris Ayres, the Matt Gentry Head Wrestling Coach. 

Garvin took sixth for the second consecutive season, finishing the year at 23-10 overall. Knox turned in a 28-9 record in his redshirt freshman season.

Men’s Basketball Season Comes to a Close at second round of NIT

    

Stanford men’s basketball started its postseason in winning fashion, downing CSUN, 87-70, at Maples Pavilion. The Cardinal improves to 21-13 this season and advances to the second round of the NIT.

Stanford improves to 20-6 all-time in the NIT, making its 10th overall appearance in the tournament. The Cardinal is 12-2 at home in the NIT, including 10 straight wins at Maples Pavilion.

 

The first season of the Kyle Smith era ended in the second round of the NIT, as Stanford fell to Kent State, 77-75. The Cardinal finishes the season at 21-14 overall, marking its most victories since 2014-15 while matching a program record with 17 wins at Maples Pavilion.

Season Ends Against Portland in WBIT

                    

Stanford was unable to hold onto a 13-point, second-half lead and the Cardinal’s season ended with a 69-68 overtime loss to Portland in the first round of the WBIT on Thursday night. Stanford was down one midway through the second quarter when Emme Shearer drained a 3-pointer, but closed the half on a 16-4 run to take a 40-29 lead into halftime.
