No. 1 Stanford Sweeps Heats on Opening Day of ACC Rowing Championship

Cardinal crews dominate conference foes on Lake Hartwell, winning all five preliminary races to secure spots in Saturday’s Grand Finals in pursuit of a fourth straight conference title

CLEMSON, S.C.- No. 1 Stanford opened competition at the 2025 ACC Championship on Friday with a dominant showing, notching first-place finishes in all five preliminary heats on Lake Hartwell.

The Cardinal kicked off the morning with a strong performance from its third varsity eight, earning a three-second victory over No. 13 Virginia.

Stanford followed up with another impressive win in the first varsity eight, pulling ahead of the Cavaliers in open water and finishing nearly eight seconds ahead of the field.

The second varsity eight extended the Cardinal's streak, clocking a time of 6:16.001 to secure a 2.8-second win.

Stanford's most commanding result came in the varsity four, where it crossed the line 12.736 seconds ahead of the nearest competitor.

The team capped the session with a second consecutive more than 10-second win, this time in the second varsity four. The Cardinal finished the race in 7:15.207, a 10.520 margin over second-place finisher North Carolina. 

With today’s results, Stanford advances to all five Grand Finals on Saturday, aiming for its fourth consecutive conference title. Racing resumes at 5:05 a.m. with the third varsity eight petite final. Live coverage will stream on ACCNX, with real-time results available at RegattaTiming.
