PRINCETON, N.J. – The No. 7-ranked Stanford men’s rowing team swept its three races against No. 11 Yale to highlight its showing at the Princeton Invitational on Saturday.
The Cardinal’s 1V8 finished on Lake Carnegie in 6:00.10, more than three seconds ahead of Yale, while the 2V8 was a winner by more than four seconds – 6:21.10 to 6:25.24. The Cardinal 3V8 also won by more than four seconds, crossing in 6:12.01 to Yale’s 6:16.35.
In races last April against the Bulldogs at Redwood Shores, Yale’s 1V8 came out on top by 1.6 seconds and its 2V8 by nearly 11 seconds. Prior to this season, the Cardinal hadn’t raced a 3V8 since 2019.
The morning session featured first, second and third varsity eight races against No. 4 Princeton, No. 10 Penn and No. 19 Columbia. Stanford finished third in both the 2V8 and 3V8 but was second in the 1V8 behind the host Tigers (6:14.70) with a time of 6:22.05.
The Cardinal has a few weeks off before returning to the water for The Big Row against Cal in Redwood Shores on Saturday, May 2.
