Prior to signing with Texas, played during the summer of 2003 with the independent Houma Hawks of the Southeastern League of Professional Baseball, hitting .213 with four homers and 12 RBI.

Cardinal Career - Started every game at shortstop as a senior after primarily coming off the bench in his first three seasons with the club ... Finished his collegiate career with a .279 batting average, one homer, 35 RBI and 14 stolen bases in 127 games and 75 starts ... Added 84 hits, 61 runs scored, 13 doubles, two triples, 22 walks, five hit-by-pitches, five sacrifice flies and 13 sacrifice bunts.

High School - A 1999 graduate of Highland Park High School... Had a big senior season as he was named to the 4-A All-State and All-District teams after hitting .477 with five homers and 35 RBI ... Had a .970 fielding percentage as a shortstop and was named the Defensive MVP of his district ... Helped his club to the 1998 4A State title ... Also played football, earning All-State honors at safety, and All-District honors as a kicker and punter as both a junior and senior ...
