Stanford athletes earned four victories at the West Coast Classic – a track and field meet split between Hayward Field in Eugene, Oregon, and Drachman Stadium in Tucson, Arizona.

Christina Aragon (women's 800 meters), Ella Donaghu (women's 1,500), and Charles Hicks (men's 5,000 meters) won in Eugene and Keyshawn King (men's triple jump) won in Tucson. And there was much more to celebrate for the Cardinal on Saturday. In all, there were three school all-time top-10 additions or improvements, three changes to the top-five freshmen lists, and 15 personal bests.

Perhaps the most intriguing result came in the men's steeplechase (the distance running and throwing events were in Eugene and the sprints and jumps in Tucson) when Ky Robinson shattered the freshman record by 15 seconds.

Robinson was a close second to Oregon's Jackson Mestler, running 8:45.32 in his collegiate debut at the distance. The time smashed the mark of 9:00.35 set by Jonathan Pierce in 2004.

The Cardinal distance crew continues to amaze. Charles Hicks became the 12th current Stanford runner to run a 5,000 under 14 minutes. Hicks did more than that, running 13:34.63 in his first attempt at that distance on the track.

Hicks, a redshirt freshman, led a Stanford 1-2-3-4 finish. He was followed by Alek Parsons (13:36.52), Callum Bolger (13:39.32), and Devin Hart (13:45.38). All ran personal bests, as did Meika Beaudoin-Rousseau in seventh (14:05.06).

A note on Stanford's depth in the 5,000: Nine have run sub-14 this season (Hicks, Parsons, Bolger, Hart, Robinson, Cole Sprout, Thomas Boyden, DJ Principe, and Evan Burke). Also, Connor Lane, Clayton Mendez-Moticka, and Michael Vernau have broken 14. Eight have run under 13:50, including seven this year.

In Tucson, Stanford's top performances came from Allie Jones, Alexa Rossum, and King.

Jones was third in the 100 hurdles in 13.55, a personal best by 0.24. Jones, a heptathlete, moved up from No. 10 to No. 4 on Stanford's all-time performers' list by running the fastest race by a Stanford hurdler since Kori Carter in 2013.

Rossum's 11.53 in the 100 and 23.62 in the 200 were Stanford's fastest times in those events since 2012. Rossum, who was fourth in the 100 and fifth in the 200, moved to No. 9 in the 100 on Stanford's all-time list.

For King, his best three lifetime performances all have come in the past month. King won the triple jump in 52-5 ¼ (15.98m), missing Darian Brooks' school outdoor record by 1 ½ inches. King earned his personal best of 52-6 (16.00m) at the Stanford Invitational on April 3.

Stanford returns to Hayward Field for the Oregon Relays on April 23-24.
