Raynaud Breaks Record in Weekend Sweep

    

Maxime Raynaud broke the program record for double-doubles in a single season, helping to lead Stanford to a 78-60 victory over Boston College on Feb. 26 at Maples Pavilion. The Cardinal improves to 18-10 this season and 10-7 in the ACC with the win.

Raynaud posted his nation-leading 21st double-double of the season with 23 points and 10 rebounds, passing Adam Keefe ’92 for the top spot on Stanford’s single-season list. 

 

 Sending out its senior class with a win on Senior Day, Stanford men’s basketball earned a 73-68 victory over SMU on Saturday at Maples Pavilion. The Cardinal improves to 19-10 on the season and 11-7 in the ACC.

Maxime Raynaud led the Cardinal with 26 points, to go with four rebounds and four blocks. The senior from Paris went 11-for-20 from the floor for his 17th 20-point outing of the season. Raynaud moved into fourth place on Stanford’s single-season rebound list with 316 this year, and he moved within 10 rebounds of fourth place on Stanford’s career rebound list.

Cardinal breaks home win record

     

Six unanswered goals to begin the third quarter helped propel No. 8 Stanford to its first-ever home Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) win as the Cardinal ran away from the visiting Pitt Panthers, taking a 16-12 decision at Cagan Stadium on Thursday afternoon. With the win, Stanford has set a new win-streak record at Cagan of 17 consecutive wins, breaking the previous record of 16 set from the 2010-11 seasons.

Jenna Flynn’s hat trick paced another balanced scoring attack as No. 1 Stanford remained unbeaten after a 17-11 win over UC Davis in its home opener on Sunday afternoon.

Stanford (12-0, 0-0 MPSF) picked up its second win of the season against UC Davis (9-11), having also beaten the Aggies 18-8 back on Jan. 25 in Berkeley.

No. 5 Stanford registered its fifth and sixth straight 5-0 victories Saturday, topping Pacific and Santa Clara at the Cardinal’s Battle of the Bay tournament.

Stanford continued its winning ways quickly Saturday morning, snagging the first point over Pacific on court two with a 21-4, 21-9 dominate win by senior Taylor Wilson and freshman Charlotta Bell. 

The Cardinal ended the Battle of the Bay with its sixth straight 5-0 sweep, this time besting Santa Clara in straight sets on all courts. Freshman Babi Gubbins and junior Sophie Kubiak kicked off the match with a 21-17, 21-16 win on court two, and just minutes later junior Daria Gusarova and fifth year Emmy Sharp finished a 21-16, 21-12 victory on court four.

Haskins Named National Player of the Week

       

The National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) released its Dick Howser Trophy National Player of the Week awards for the period ending February 25, with senior Trevor Haskins earning Hitter of the Week.

Haskins, the ACC Player of the Week, homered in all four games of a series against Washington last weekend, batting 7-for-18 with six runs scored, a double, four homers and 12 RBIs in the series against the Huskies. He has hit safely in all eight games this season as the Cardinal is 8-0 to start the year - the best start for the Cardinal since opening the 2018 season at 10-0.

Success on senior day

          

Three event wins highlighted a successful completion of the regular season for the Stanford artistic swimming team as it took first place in a four team dual at Avery Aquatic Center on Sunday. Stanford accumulated 87 team points during the meet to claim the top spot while Ohio State took second with 68 points followed by UCLA (62 points) and UC San Diego (8 points). 

Taking part in her final collegiate competition on The Farm, Emmanuella Tchakmakjian grabbed first place in the solo, finishing with a routine score of 179.04 which was over 55 points higher than her closest competitor. Having placed second at MPSF Championships a few weeks ago, Tchakmakjian closed out her account at home with her second event win of the season in the solo.

Four Cardinal scored in double figures and Stanford used a strong second-half spurt to take control and dispatch visiting Miami 86-69 on Thursday night.

Brooke Demetre led Stanford (15-13, 7-10) with 19 points, a career-high six assists and zero turnovers and Courtney Ogden put up a personal best for the second consecutive game, scoring 18. Chloe Clardy added 16 points and six assists, while Elena Bosgana chipped in 15 and was a team-best +23 in her 31 minutes.

Elena Bosgana led Stanford with 19 points and six rebounds on Senior Day and the Cardinal closed out its regular season with an 87-82 win over visiting Georgia Tech on Sunday afternoon. Stanford made 35 of its 57 attempts from the floor, a 61.4 percent clip that is an ACC best in conference games this season. Mary Ashley Stevenson had her best game in a Cardinal uniform, scoring 17 points on 7-of-9 shooting, Courtney Ogden added 16, Chloe Clardy scored 12 and Brooke Demetre put in 10.

Stanford (16-13, 8-10) is the No. 11 seed in next week’s ACC Tournament and will play No. 14 seed Clemson in the first round on Wednesday, March 5 at 3:30 p.m. PT/6:30 p.m. ET on ACC Network.

Opening Taube Pavillion with wins

    

Stanford opened its new facility with a 7-0 sweep of visiting Saint Mary’s on Wednesday afternoon. The match was the Cardinal’s first played at the new Taube Pavilion at Arrillaga Tennis Center.

Chidimma Okpara won it with her first clincher for Stanford with a 6-1, 6-0 win at No. 5 over Stefanie Silva. The Cardinal largely rolled on the other five courts with Valerie GlozmanConnie MaValencia Xu and Caroline Driscoll all straight-set winners.

 

Caroline Driscoll clinched for the Cardinal and No. 34 Stanford beat No. 46 UC Santa Barbara 5-2 at Taube Pavilion on Friday afternoon.

Stanford (7-2) took care of business in doubles with Driscoll and Valencia Xu winning 6-2 at No. 2 before Chidimma Okpara and Morgan Shaffer secured the point for the Cardinal with a 6-4 victory at No. 3.

Stanford boats closed out the Redwood Shores Invitational with undefeated records Sunday.

The first and second varsity eights combined for an 8-0 weekend on the 2,000-meter Belmont Channel/Redwood Shores Lagoon course. On a windy Sunday morning, the Cardinal 1V8 beat University of San Diego and the Cardinal 2V8 beat UC San Diego.
