Shawn Harvey enters his third season with Stanford Sailing in the fall of 2024.

Harvey was instrumental in helping Stanford cement itself as the best women’s sailing program in the nation in 2024 as the team took the ICSA Women’s Team and Fleet Race Championships, also becoming back to back champions in the Women’s Fleet. Harvey has now helped Stanford claim four national titles in his two complete seasons on The Farm.

In his first season, Harvey helped guide Stanford to its most successful season in program history. The Cardinal finished with two fleet race national titles, a singlehanded title, and three runner-up finishes in national events. Stanford was awarded the Leonard M. Fowle Trophy, given to the best collegiate sailing program.

Harvey helped lead Chapman Petersen to the first men's singlehanded national title since 2006, while also guiding Hallie Schiffman to a runner-up finish on the women's side and Stanford's best finish in the event since 2018. In the spring season, Harvey helped lead Stanford to its first-ever ICSA Women's Fleet Race and ICSA Open Fleet Race titles, as well as two second place finishes in the ICSA Women's Team Race and ICSA Open Fleet Race.

Harvey brings a wealth of experience to The Farm as he earned multiple prestigious sailing accolades during his time at Yale. Harvey also finished his bachelor's degree at the Ivey League school in 2022.

"Shawn is a phenomenal sailor from a historically great program," said Stanford head coach Chris Klevan. "I think we can all learn a lot from him and his experiences, and I'm excited to see what he adds to our group next year."

In 2022, Harvey was named the 2022 College Sailor of the Year, the same season he helped Yale to a national titles in the ICSA Team Race Championships and a second place finish in the ICSA Open Fleet Race Championships. Harvey also led Yale to a national title in the Team Race Championships and Open Fleet Race Championships in 2019, making him a three-time national champion during his time in New Haven, Connecticut.

"When Shawn came on the scene, you could tell right away he was going to be an All-American," said Klevan. "What set Shawn apart from the rest, to me, was his dedication to his own development."

A three-time All-American and the 2020 NEISA Sailor of the Year, Harvey has also spent time on the national stage, racing in US Sailing events. in 2021, Harvey finished second in the Hinman Trophy - the US Sailing Team Race National Championship.

"I'm excited to be back working with Shawn after our time in the 470 together," said assistant coach Augie Dale. "His experience as a college sailor and team racer will add a great resource to our team."
