SEASON WRAP-UP: Finishing with a record of 11-15, the Cardinal men's volleyball team improved significantly from a 9-18 finish in 2004. The 2005 season saw the Cardinal rally to qualify for postseason action with critical wins over Long Beach State and Cal State Northridge while pushing Pepperdine, UCLA, Hawaii, and UC Santa Barbara to their limits. Stanford bids farewell to three seniors Craig Buell, Kevin Hansen, David Vogel all team leaders in the respective categories of hitting percentage, assists, and digs.

BALANCED ATTACK: Stanford relied on a variety of players to provide its offensive firepower. Four Stanford players had at least 200 kills on the season, giving setter Kevin Hansen a wealth of options when the Cardinal needed a point. Craig Buell (289 kills/ 3.11 kills per game/ .413 hitting percentage), Ben Reddy (330 kills/ 3.79 kills per game), David Vogel (297 kills/ 3.06 kills per game), and Chris Ahlfeldt (239 kills/ .386 hitting percentage) have all led Stanford in kills during the 2005 season.

POSTSEASON HONORS: Fifth-year senior setter Kevin Hansen was voted first team All-MPSF, marking the fourth consecutive year that Hansen has been selected for MPSF honors. Hansen totaled 1,232 assists (12.70 assists per game) while leading all MPSF setters in kills (87) and digs (185) in 2005. Senior middle blocker Craig Buell was voted third team All-MPSF after leading Stanford with 101 blocks (19 solo). Buell also led the Cardinal with a .413 season hitting percentage and hit an astonishing .630 in Stanford's final regular season match.

CAREER LEADERS: Fifth-year senior setter Kevin Hansen finished his career third on Stanford's list of career leaders in assists with 5,036. Hansen becameonly the third player in Stanford men's volleyball history to amass 5,000 career assists. Hansen is a four-time All-MPSF selection and was named a third team All-American following the 2004 season. Hansen's 12.85 assists per game ranks ninth all-time among Stanford setters.Senior David Vogel ends his Stanford tenure fifth among career leaders in digs with 633. Vogel's average of 1.87 digs per game ranks sixth all-time for the Cardinal. Senior Craig Buell finished ninth in career hitting percentage, posting a mark of .404 over his four years as a middle blocker for the Cardinal. Buell posted the fourth highest hitting percentage in Stanford men's volleyball history when he hit .824 against UC Irvine in 2003.
