Cardinal Downs No. 22 Cardinals on Senior Night

          

 Emmet Kenney made a career-long 52-yard field goal as time expired to give Stanford a 38-35 victory over No. 22 Louisville on Saturday, ending the Cardinal’s six-game losing streak.

Down 35-21 in the fourth quarter, Stanford (3-7, 2-5 Atlantic Coast Conference) tied it on Emmett Mosley V’s two touchdown receptions, the second a 25-yarder from backup quarterback Justin Lamson with 45 seconds left.

Cardinal Advances in Rout

         

Opening the 2024 NCAA Tournament on Friday night from Cagan Stadium, No. 14 Stanford (14-4-1) exploded for five goals to earn a 5-0 shutout over UC Santa Barbara (8-6-9) to advance to the tournament’s second round.

The Cardinal, which had previously maxed out at three goals on two occasions this year, received goals from Charlotte KohlerAndrea KitahataLizzie Boamah and Lumi Kostmayer, in addition to an own goal from UCSB that opened the scoring in the 21st minute.

Women's volleyball notches 42nd 20-win season

                

Opposite Jordyn Harvey registered a career-high 16 kills to lead No. 7 Stanford in a 25-20, 25-17, 25-17 win over Virginia, Thursday, in Maples Pavilion. 

The Cardinal (20-4, 12-3 ACC) tallied its seventh consecutive sweep at home and reached the 20-win plateau for the 42nd time in program history. Stanford hit .440 for the match while holding Virginia (19-7, 9-6 ACC) to a .135 clip, and out dug the Cavaliers 46-27.

Elia Rubin and Ipar Kurt combined for 26 kills to lead No. 7 Stanford in a 25-8, 25-16, 25-12 win over Virginia Tech, Friday, in Maples Pavilion.

The Cardinal (21-4, 13-3 ACC) hit a season-high .553 as a team, while holding the Hokies (7-19, 1-15 ACC) to a .167 clip. Stanford registered 46 kills, 39 digs, seven aces and 6.0 blocks in its first-ever meeting against Virginia Tech.

Bunnage Wins, Women to NCAA's

    

Stanford sophomore Amy Bunnage won the NCAA West Regional in her season debut Friday and led the Cardinal women to their 32nd consecutive NCAA Championships appearance.

Stanford placed second with 67 points at Colfax Golf Club to earn an automatic spot to nationals, to be held November 23 in Verona, Wisconsin.

Stanford men’s basketball continued its winning start to the season, downing Northern Arizona, 90-64, on Tuesday at Maples Pavilion. The Cardinal improves to 3-0, marking the first 3-0 start since the 2019-20 campaign.

Maxime Raynaud scored a career-high 33 points and grabbed 14 rebounds as Stanford men’s basketball defeated UC Davis, 79-65, on Sunday at Maples Pavilion. The Cardinal improves to 4-0 on the season with the result.

Fourth Quarter Flurry fuels win over UC Davis

       

Nunu Agara had her first career double-double with 25 points and 10 rebounds, Courtney Ogden added a personal best 16 points and No. 24 Stanford came alive in the fourth quarter to beat visiting UC Davis 69-56 on Wednesday night.

The atmosphere was electric. The match was tense. It was Big Splash 2024 between No. 2 Stanford and No. 7 California. With the teams both taking a win against the other this season,  the third matchup of the regular season featured a lot of firepower. In the end, Stanford pulled away in the second half and held on for a 16-11 win on its Senior Night.

Stanford senior Jack Ryan won both springboard events at the University of Texas Diving Invitational this weekend at the Lee and Joe Jamail Texas Swimming Center.

The four-time All-American captured the 3-meter with 423.45 points in the six-dive final on Saturday. In the 1-meter final on Friday, Ryan scored 398.85.

Stanford diving wrapped up the Texas Diving Invitational at Lee and Joe Jamail Texas Swimming Center on Sunday afternoon. Freshman Anna Lemkin earned Stanford's best individual result of the weekend with a second-place finish in the platform dive, while Emilie Moore made three event finals appearances.

Earning bonus points in five bouts, No. 14 Stanford defeated Cal Poly, 33-12, Saturday, in an outdoor dual on O'Neill Green.

The Cardinal (4-1) won seven of the nine contested matches against the Mustangs (0-2), including three falls on the afternoon.

Men’s Fencing Takes Down No. 10 Duke

       

Stanford fencing finished the fall competition slate in Philadelphia today, participating in the Elite Invitational against five top-10 teams. The men’s side finished 2-3 on the day and posted the weekend’s highlight, upsetting No. 10 Duke 22-5.

Men’s foil beat No. 2 Notre Dame, led by Benjamin Shih going a perfect 3-0. The men’s team ended the day with a pair of wins, including the dominant victory over No. 10 Duke. In the win over the Blue Devils, Sanjay KasiRenzo FukudaSteven Yang and Jared Hammerstrom all went a perfect 3-0.

Stanford sailing closed out the fall slate with a pair of regattas over the weekend, finishing fourth in its first national championship regatta of the season at the ICSA Match Race Championships in Oyster Bay, New York. 

The Cardinal also competed in the PCCSC Open Championships, taking home top honors in the 19-team field to conclude the fall slate with a conference win and Stanford's ninth regatta win of the season.
